Sunday December 11, 2011 6:22 AM

Freshman Chad Niddery scored in overtime to give the fourth-ranked Ohio State men a 3-2 victory over Miami last night in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association game in Oxford, Ohio.

The Buckeyes (13-4-1, 10-3-1-1) salvaged a series split to remain in first place in the CCHA.

After a scoreless first period, the RedHawks struck first at 11:14 of the second, but OSU freshman Tanner Fritz tied the score at 1 less than two minutes later.

In the third period, Miami (9-9-2, 5-7-2-1) scored on a power play at 8:21, but again the Buckeyes got the equalizer quickly when senior Danny Dries tallied at 10:32.

Niddery’s goal came one second after an OSU power play expired in overtime. He put in a rebound after Alex Carlson’s faceoff win in the RedHawks’ zone.

Brady Hjelle (2-2-0) had 37 saves for Ohio State.
