Ohio State roundup: Bowling Green wins shootout over OSU

Al McLean and Max McCormick each scored a goal for Ohio State in the final 3:48 of regulation, and the men’s hockey team played to a 2-2 tie but lost in a shootout to Bowling Green in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association game last night at BGSU Ice Arena.

The Buckeyes (14-4-2, 10-3-2-1) earned a point in the league standings for the overtime tie, while the Falcons 6-13-4; 1-11-3-2) picked up two points with the shootout win.

Trailing 2-0, McLean put OSU on the board with a one-timer from McCormick. Ohio State went on the power play and capitalized just 1:23 later when Darik Angeli fed McCormick in front of the net.

Sean Duddy assisted on both goals.

The teams will meet again today at 5:05 p.m.

Women’s hockey

The Buckeyes rallied from a 3-0 deficit but suffered a 4-3 loss to St. Cloud State in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.

Taylor Kuehl, Ally Tarr and Natalie Spooner scored goals for Ohio State (10-8-1, 7-8-1) to tie the score at 3 with 14:33 remaining, but Brittany Toor scored for the Huskies (3-17-2, 2-14) with under six minutes left.

Spooner’s goal was her 87th, which set a school record. She also had an assist, giving her 140 career points, fourth most overall in Ohio State history.
