College basketball roundup: Wisconsin extends winning streak to five

Ben Brust scored 13 points and 25th-ranked Wisconsin continued its recent rebound in the Big Ten, beating No. 16 Indiana 57-50 last night in Madison, Wis.

Ryan Evans added 12 points for the Badgers (17-5, 6-3), who have recovered from a rough start to conference play by winning their past five games.

Verdell Jones and Christian Watford scored 12 points each for the Hoosiers (16-5, 4-5), who have lost four of their past five.

Men’s highlights

No. 7 North Carolina 74, N.C. State 55 — Tyler Zeller had 21 points and a career-best 17 rebounds and host North Carolina 17-3, 4-1) defeated North Carolina State (15-6, 4-2) in an Atlantic Coast Conference game.

Nebraska 79, Iowa 73 — Brandon Richardson scored a season-high 25 points and Nebraska (11-9, 3-6) rallied to beat Iowa (11-10, 3-5) for the Cornhuskers’ first Big Ten road win.

Zach McCabe matched a career high with 20 points for Iowa, which led by as much as 11 in the first half.

Big Ten women

No. 13 Purdue 80, Northwestern 70 — Courtney Moses scored a career-high 29 points and Purdue (18-3, 8-0) maintained its one-game lead in the Big Ten by winning at Northwestern (12-9, 2-6).

No. 18 Penn State 77, Michigan 56 — Maggie Lucas had 23 points and eight rebounds for Penn State (16-4, 6-2), which won its fifth straight by beating Michigan (16-5, 5-3), which lost for the first time at home this season.

No. 19 Nebraska 60, Iowa 53 — Jordan Hooper had her conference-leading ninth double-double with 22 points and 15 rebounds and Nebraska (17-3, 6-2) held off a comeback by Iowa (11-10, 3-5).

Illinois 71, Michigan State 62, OT — Amber Moore scored 14 points and Illinois (7-14, 1-7) handed host Michigan State (12-9, 4-4) its fourth straight loss.
