Sunday February 5, 2012 9:13 AM

Tanner Fritz scored two second-period goals, but it wasn’t enough to rally Ohio State in a 3-2 loss to Michigan State in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association game before a crowd of 6,019 at Value City Arena.

The Spartans took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by Matt Berry in the first period. They made it 3-0 on goals by Jake Chelios and Torey Krug in the second period.

Fritz scored his fifth of the season at 14:23 of the second and his sixth at 17:44.

Ohio State goaltender Cal Heeter stopped 22 shots. Michigan State’s Will Yanakeff made 33 saves.

The Buckeyes have gone 10 games with a victory (0-6-4).
