Walter Offutt scored 17 points and Nick Kellogg added 14 as Ohio University dominated Central Michigan 68-42 yesterday in Athens for its sixth straight victory.
The Bobcats (19-4, 7-2 Mid-American Conference) matched their victory total from last season.
Kellogg and D.J. Cooper combined to open the game with three consecutive three-pointers, putting Ohio ahead 9-1. The Bobcats pushed the lead to 24-14 after a Cooper free throw.
Cooper, who scored all nine of his points in the first half, hit three free throws at the end of the half to give the Bobcats a 33-20 lead.
Miami University 59, Ball State 53 — Quinten Rollins scored 14 points and Brian Sullivan made four three-pointers as Miami (6-14, 2-6 MAC) handed Ball State (12-8, 4-4) its fourth straight loss.
Bowling Green 65, Northern Illinois 40 — Jordon Crawford scored 15 points and Bowling Green (11-11, 5-4) used a big first half to rout Northern Illinois (2-19, 1-8) in the MAC.
Kent State 78, Western Michigan 73, OT — Chris Evans scored nine of his 18 points in overtime, and Kent State (16-6, 6-3) defeated Western Michigan (10-13, 4-5) in a MAC game that was tied 11 times.
Akron 77, Eastern Michigan 47 — Chauncey Gilliam led four Akron players in double figures with 13 points, and the Zips (16-7, 8-1) routed Eastern Michigan (10-13, 5-4) in the MAC.
Buffalo 72, Toledo 65 — Titus Robinson scored 14 points and Buffalo (14-6, 7-2) overcame a 13-point deficit with a strong finish to defeat Toledo (10-13, 2-7) in the MAC.
Cincinnati 74, DePaul 66 — Dion Dixon and Sean Kilpatrick had 16 points each and Cashmere Wright got all 11 of his points in the second half to help Cincinnati (16-7, 6-4) pull away from DePaul (11-11, 2-8) for a Big East victory.
Memphis 72, Xavier 68 — Wesley Witherspoon and Joe Jackson sparked a furious Memphis (16-7) comeback over the final six minutes in a victory over Xavier (15-8).
Saint Louis 58, Dayton 50 — Brian Conklin scored 16 points and Saint Louis (18-5, 6-3) held off a rally by Dayton (14-9, 4-5) in the Atlantic 10.
Valparaiso 63, Wright State 54 — Richie Edwards scored 16 points to lead Valparaiso (17-8, 10-3) over Wright State (11-14, 6-7) in the Horizon League.
Lake Erie 75, Ohio Dominican 54 — Center Zak Kapron had 11 points and 10 rebounds, but Ohio Dominican (3-18, 0-15) lost to Lake Erie (8-12, 3-10) in a GLIAC South Division game.
Lake Erie used a 12-0 run to take a 19-10 lead and was never threatened again.
Ohio Wesleyan 81, Oberlin 57 — Andy Winters had 18 points and 10 assists to lead Ohio Wesleyan (16-5, 8-4) past Oberlin (6-15, 1-11) in a North Coast Athletic Conference game.
Tim Brady had 16 points and Reuel Rogers 12 for the Bishops.
Capital 68, Heidelberg 60 — Spencer Niekamp had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead Capital (14-7, 11-3) past Heidelberg (6-16, 4-10) in an Ohio Athletic Conference game.
Mitch Westerheide had 15 points and Michael Sommer 14 for Capital.
Otterbein 89 John Carroll 75 — Freshman reserve RaNeal Ewing had 21 points to lead Otterbein (7-14, 4-10) past John Carroll (15-5, 10-4) in an OAC game. Five Otterbein players scored in double figures, including Brice Rausch, who had 18 (7-of-7 shooting).
