Men's basketball: Burke rides performance against Buckeyes to Big Ten honor

Michigan freshman Trey Burke averaged 15 points, five assists and 38 minutes played in two games against Ohio State this season.

Northland High School product Trey Burke is the Big Ten's freshman of the week in men's basketball, the conference announced this morning.

The Michigan guard earned the award for his performance in a 56-51 victory over Ohio State on Saturday night in Ann Arbor. Burke had 17 points, five assists and two rebounds in the Wolverines' third win over a top-10 opponent this season. This is the fifth time he has earned the Big Ten's freshman award.

Michigan State senior forward Draymond Green was named the conference's player of the week.
