The outgoing president draws plaudits from the A.D. and major head coaches

In the wake of the sudden retirement announcement from Ohio State president E. Gordon Gee this week came the following statements this morning from the three more visible members of the school's athletic department.
Gene Smith, OSU associate vice president and athletic director: "I want to thank Gordon for what he has done for me as a person and for his contributions to higher education and in particular to The Ohio State University. I am appreciative for all his contributions as a president to intercollegiate athletics on a national level.I wish he and his family all the best."
Urban Meyer, football coach:"It is hard to put into words the respect and love I have for President Gee. His leadership brought me to this university, and I will always be thankful and grateful to him for that. He has been a wonderful advocate for collegiate athletics and for The Ohio State University. It has been an honor to work for him. I wish him the best as he moves into retirement."
Thad Matta, basketball coachL "Dr. Gee has done so much for me personally and as a coach. He has always gone above and beyond the call of duty to help build our program. I have never met a person who loves this university more than Dr. Gee."
