Toledo linebacker Ja'Wuan Woodley was so wrapped up in preparation for Iowa State that he named his mother as the family's official ticket broker.

More than 20 relatives and friends are expected to be in the Glass Bowl when the Rockets attempt to get a piggyback win over a Power Five conference team after last Saturday's upset of Arkansas.

Woodley, a sophomore from Hartley, said the coaching staff has a phrase for not getting caught up in the media crush. The team received 29 points but fell short of making the Associated Press top 25 poll.

"Coaches have been preaching all season not to drink the poison," Woodley said. "You have to stay on the road - stay on the path - toward getting all of your goals. The atmosphere after Arkansas was hyped. We were so happy; we beat an SEC team. Now, it's better not drink the poison. Now, it's Iowa State."

The game will be broadcast on ESPNews. A large crowd is expected. It will be a red-letter day for Woodley for yet another reason: he will make his first start in a home game.

Although he went to high school and made his name in football in Columbus, he's a Toledo man.

"That was one reason I picked UT," Woodley said. "I was born and raised here. My parents were born here. I grew up right down the street from campus. A lot of my family is still up here. I want to show my family how much I've changed (as a player)."

As part of his recruiting pitch, coach Matt Campbell told Woodley about the team's attractive non-conference schedule. In 2014, the Rockets played Missouri, Cincinnati and Iowa State.

Campbell, however, told reporters this week that the Arkansas game had to be put aside quickly.

"We got on the plane knowing there are 10 games left in the college football season, and that your season won't be defined by that one game," he said. "You look at Iowa State, and that is one of the most skilled teams in the country. They are a veteran team and a hungry football team.
