The second-period run gave the Buckeyes (11-17-3, 6-8-3-1) a 6-2 lead. After the Wolverines (20-6-5, 10-4-3-2) cut it to 6-4 in the third period, Ohio State's Freddy Gerard capped the scoring with a goal with 1:12 remaining.

John Wiitala, Dakota Joshua and Josh Healey scored in the first period for Ohio State.

Men's volleyball

Nicolas Szerszen led the way with 15 kills as the host Buckeyes (14-3, 8-1) defeated No. 11 Loyola Chicago (11-5, 6-3) in straight sets, 25-20, 25-21, 25-22, in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association.

Fifth-ranked Ohio State, which has won six straight and is in second place in the MIVA, takes on No. 13 Lewis tonight.

Baseball

Jacob Bosiokovic had four extra-base hits, including a home run, scored three times and drove in three runs to lead the Ohio State baseball team to a 9-3 win over Seton Hall in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Bosiokovic, a junior right fielder from Delaware, homered to lead off the fourth inning to kick-start OSU's rally from a 3-0 deficit. He added three doubles, including a two-run double in the eighth to push the lead to 9-3.

Zach Ratcliff added three hits for the Buckeyes (6-2-1) and Craig Nennig had two RBI.

Austin Woodby got the win in relief of starter Tanner Tully, who allowed six hits and three runs in 5 1/3 innings. Woodby, Michael Horejsei and Seth Kinker combined for 3 2/3 innings of hitless relief.
