With winter just wrapping up, Barnesville Village Council is already thinking of the 2019-2020 winter season.
At its April 1 meeting, council approved purchasing salt for wintry roadways. Council approved the contract.
In related business, council approved the paving project for village roadways in 2019. The exact streets to be paved were not named.
Also, council approved the changes in the cemetery rates. The current rate for an open and close of a grave is $600 during the week and $900 on Sundays or holidays. The new proposal rate is $800 during the week and $1,200 on Sundays or holidays. Council approved the increased cemetery rates.
In other business, Fire Chief Tim Hall asked to sell the 2002 Ford Squad to Fairview for $7,000. Council agreed.
Mayor Dale Bunting said Brock Williams’ resignation was effective April 20. Mayor Bunting said Williams has done a good job and appreciated all his hard work with the EMS and fire departments.
Mayor Bunting said Mayor’s Court generated $1,417 for the state, $51 for the county, and $2,616 for the village for the month of March.
Council also gave approval to Crystal Lorimore of the Belmont County CIC and Rich Sidwell regarding a bike route through town. This would also allow posting signs and permission to park at the Depot. Several routes were discussed and it was decided that Village Administrator Roger Deal and Police Chief Rocky Sirianni will decide on the route.
