The Ohio State men’s tennis team lost to top-ranked Virginia 4-1 this afternoon in the finals of the ITA Team Indoor championship in Charlottesville, Va.

The Buckeyes’ only victory came at No. 1 singles, where Mikael Torpegaard won 6-3, 7-5 over Collin Altamirano.

The third-ranked Buckeyes lost the doubles point, and No. 6 Kyle Seelig lost to Henrik Wierscholm 7-6, 6-2. The other matches went to three sets.

Hugo Di Feo lost 3-6, 7-6, 6-2 to Thai-Son Kwiatkowski at No. 2, and the Cavaliers clinched the match at No. 4 when J.C. Aragone outlasted Herkko Pollanen 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4).

Michael Joyce was two points from victory at No. 5 for the Buckeyes at 6-3, 5-7, 6-5 (30-15) when Pollanen lost match point. Ohio State’s JJ Wolf led 6-3, 6-7, 5-3 at No. 3 singles when the match ended.

Ohio State was seeking its second ITA team indoor title in four years.
