Ohio State lost its second cornerback this week when Rodjay Burns announced Friday that he would transfer to Louisville to be closer to his ailing father.

Earlier this week, Joshua Norwood said he was transferring to Georgia Southern.

Burns posted on Instagram today that he’d made a “Hard thought out life decision,” adding, “I love my brothers at TOSU but I have to further my career elsewhere due to my fathers health.”

Burns was one of the final commitments in Ohio State’s 2016 class out of Trinity High School. He played sparingly as a freshman, but did have one moment of glory. Burns intercepted a pass and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown for Ohio State’s final score in its 77-10 season-opening rout of Bowling Green.

With several elite freshmen already enrolled, Burns would have faced an uphill battle for significant playing time this season.

Burns originally committed to Louisville before flipping to Ohio State.
