The No. 2-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team earned a spot in the round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 win over Notre Dame on Sunday at the OSU Varsity Tennis Courts.

The Buckeyes, the tournament’s No. 3 seed, will face No. 14 seed South Carolina at noon Thursday in Athens, Georgia.

Ohio State (30-2) won the doubles point and three singles matches in straight sets against the Irish (18-10).

Senior Sandy Niehaus, who picked up her 100th singles victory Saturday, posted her 100th doubles victory of her Ohio State career to become the program’s all-time leader in doubles wins. She is the fourth OSU player with triple-digit singles wins and the first with 100 singles and doubles wins.

The tandem of Niehaus and junior Anna Sanford posted the first doubles win, topping Brooke Broda and Allison Miller 6-1. The No. 18-ranked team of sophomore Francesca Di Lorenzo and senior Miho Kowase prevailed over Mary Closs and Monica Robinson 6-1 to clinch the doubles point.
