Ohio State is ranked second behind Alabama in the preseason Amway coaches poll released on Thursday.

The Buckeyes received five first-place votes, well behind Alabama, which got 49. The Crimson Tide drew 1,603 points to edge Ohio State (1,512) and No. 3 Florida State (1,434).

Southern California and defending champion Clemson round out the top 5. Clemson received the second-most number of first-place votes, with seven.

Three other Big Ten teams are ranked in the bottom of the top 10 — No. 6 Penn State, No. 9 Michigan and No. 10 Wisconsin. No other Big Ten team is in the top 25.

Oklahoma, which comes to Columbus on Sept. 9, is ranked eighth, behind Washington.
