The Ohio State women’s basketball team on Wednesday announced a 2017-18 schedule that features seven 2017 NCAA Tournament teams, including four nonconference opponents who made last year’s field of 64.
The non-conference slate begins with a pair of challenges. Following a Nov. 5 exhibition against Urbana, the Buckeyes face Stanford on Nov. 10 at St. John Arena in a previously announced matchup.
Two days later in the Countdown to Columbus showcase at Nationwide Arena, Ohio State will meet Louisville. The Buckeyes originally were scheduled to face Connecticut on the court hosting the 2018 Women’s Final Four but changed to a game against Louisville “due to television demands and travel logistics,” according to an Ohio State release. Stanford will face UConn in the showcase’s other game.
Other highlights of Ohio State’s nonconference schedule include a Nov. 30 Big Ten-ACC Challenge game at Duke, a Dec. 17 game at Cincinnati and a Feb. 11 game at South Florida.
The Buckeyes will play in the Play4Kay Shootout in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving weekend. The tournament’s full field and schedule have not yet been announced.
The Big Ten also released on Wednesday its composite women’s schedule for 2017-18.
Ohio State, the Big Ten regular-season co-champion last season, will play five of its first eight conference games away from Value City Arena and wrap up the Big Ten season with five of eight at home.
Ohio State will complete its two games against Michigan early in the conference slate — in Ann Arbor on Jan. 7 and at home Jan. 16.
Ohio State will face Maryland, which shared the regular-season conference title last season, on Monday, Jan. 22 in College Park, Maryland.
