Ohio State’s lone verbal commitment for its class of 2018 just got a boost in the ESPN recruiting rankings.

In today’s newly updated list of the top 100 recruits in the class, Torrence Watson from St. Louis (Mo.) Whitfield School is now a four-star prospect rated No. 68 nationally. He committed to the Buckeyes on July 10.

A player formerly committed to the Buckeyes is now among the nation’s top 10. Darius Bazley from Cincinnati Princeton, who de-committed during the spring and is now committed to Syracuse, is ranked as a five-star talent and the No. 9 national prospect.

ESPN recruiting analyst Paul Biancardi said Bazley could end up as a top-five national recruit.

“Every time Bazley steps on the court he progresses,” he wrote. “With his length, skill and decision-making he has become one of the fastest risers in the class. Bazley catches your attention because of his fluidity and finesse facing the basket and in the paint. He runs the floor with good effort and protects the rim. His lack of strength and balance hurts him at times on the glass and as he tries to finish in traffic. As he continues to develop, don't be surprised if he is in the top five in the next ranking.”

He’s the highest-rated Ohioan among four included in the top 100. Pickerington North small forward Jerome Hunter is No. 73, Richfield Revere power forward Pete Nance is No. 76 and Upper Arlington shooting guard Dane Goodwin is No. 77. Like Bazley, Goodwin was initially verbally committed to Ohio State. All three are listed as four-star prospects.
