Analysis: Downhill to the finish
Ohio State spent the fourth quarter putting the finishing touches on a victory that wasn’t nearly as dominant as it appeared. The Buckeyes’ defense forced two turnovers by Indiana QB Richard Lagow in the quarter and both led to OSU touchdowns. The first came early, when Jashon Cornell sacked Lagow and forced a fumble that Jonathon Cooper recovered at the Indiana 11. One play later, Barrett flipped a scoring pass to Binjimen Victor. The Hoosiers then drove to the OSU 34 on their next possession but Lagow’s pass for Donavan Hale was intercepted at the OSU 13 by Denzel Ward. Thirteen plays and 87 yards later, Antonio Williams capped the scoring with a 5-yard scoring run on fourth down. That completed a dominant second half by OSU, which outgained Indiana 380-151 in the final two quarters. – Ray Stein
