One of Ohio State’s top targets still remaining in the class of 2018 is set to announce today.

Sometime today, four-star point guard Elijah Weaver from Oldsmar (Fla.) Christian will announce his college decision. Weaver announced his four finalists in late August and took official visits to each of them: USC (Sept. 2), Ohio State (Sept. 9), Florida (Sept. 16) and Oklahoma State (Sept. 22).

Weaver’s plan had long been to announce his college decision on Dec. 30, his birthday, but a source has told The Dispatch that he was set to commit to USC the day news of the FBI’s investigation into college basketball broke. Since then, Florida has landed a pair of commitments from four-star guards: Andrew Nembhard and Noah Locke, both of whom were pursued by the Buckeyes at one point.

Ohio State is still in the market for one more commitment after landing four in the span of a week during late September. Should the Buckeyes add to their class of 2018, it will be a guard, preferably a point guard.

The “Crystal Ball” projection has USC as the overwhelming favorite to land Weaver at 76 percent.
