Star of the game

Ohio State’s other running back, Mike Weber, stepped in after J.K. Dobbins got things going and then ran away with the plaudits. His 162 yards included breakaway touchdown runs of 82 and 47 yards. The man who couldn’t hit a home run last season hit two as the offensive line took control.

Turning point

Nick Bosa, who was kicked out of the loss at Iowa a week earlier for a targeting hit, sacked Michigan State's Brian Lewerke for a 12-yard loss from the Ohio State 36-yard line on the Spartans’ first drive. From that point, the Buckeyes offense and defense dominated.

Beating the No. 12 team in the College Football Playoff rankings so convincingly should make Ohio State — No. 13 this past week, No. 6 the week before — at least an interesting topic for the committee. But what matters is that Ohio State is control of the Big Ten East with two games left.
