Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said linebacker Dante Booker has been cleared after missing the past two games because of a concussion.
“It’s good news,” Meyer said on the Big Ten coaches teleconference Tuesday. “He’s going to practice today.”
Now the question is whether Booker will return to the starting lineup, which Meyer did not address.
Booker and Jerome Baker (concussion) missed the Michigan State game two weeks ago after the linebacker unit played poorly in the 55-24 loss at Iowa. Chris Worley moved from middle to outside linebacker against the Spartans, with Tuf Borland taking over in the middle. Malik Harrison took over for Baker.
Baker returned last week against Illinois. Worley and Borland remained in their spots and played well. Worley was the defensive player of the game against the Illini.
At the least, Booker’s availability will add depth at linebacker. The fourth-year junior from Akron has been credited with 21 solo and 10 assisted tackles this year, including five for losses. He also has one interception.
