Ohio State has ended its efforts to sign quarterback Emory Jones of Franklin, Georgia, Bucknuts analyst Bill Kurelic reported Monday night.
The Buckeyes seem to be content with Matthew Baldwin of Lake Travis High School near Austin, Texas, who committed two weeks ago, with the early signing period beginning Wednesday. Jones, a four-star prospect, committed to Ohio State in the summer of 2016, but he has reportedly wavered in recent months and now appears more interested in Florida, Florida State and Auburn.

In response, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer and his staff turned to Baldwin, who has Lake Travis in the Class 6A, Division I championship game this week against Allen. That game will take place Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the same day the Buckeyes are arriving in the area to prepare for the Cotton Bowl at that stadium on Dec. 29.
Baldwin suffered a minor injury in a semifinal win over Katy, but he is expected to play in the final.
