With Cameron Brown’s surprising flip from his long commitment to Nebraska to sign with the Ohio State football team on Wednesday afternoon, make that 21 members in the fold in the early signing period for the Buckeyes’ 2018 recruiting class, and two receivers from the same school.
Brown is from Christian Brothers school in St. Louis, a teammate of Kamryn Babb, who signed earlier in the day with the Buckeyes. Brown, 6 feet 1, 175 pounds, is rated 59th nationally among receiver prospects, according to the 247sports composite of the major recruiting service rankings.
Though he’s listed as receiver, Brown is considered to have the skills to play defensive back.
While teammate Babb missed the whole 2017 season due to a knee injury, Brown missed most of the postseason because of injury. Before that Brown caught 58 passes for 931 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, the Buckeyes await word from safety Jaiden Woodbey, a longtime commitment from John Bosco Prep in Bellflower, California. He has shown considerable interest in Southern California and Florida State the past several weeks. His signing ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 p.m., Columbus time.
