INDIANAPOLIS – Billy Price was expected to put on a show in the bench press at the NFL combine.

The center’s weightlifting prowess is regarded as legendary inside Ohio State’s Woody Hayes Athletic Center. It would not have been a surprise if he had exceeded 30 reps lifting 225 pounds in the bench press.

Instead, he was injured early in the drill on Thursday. Price had completed just a few reps when he stopped in obvious pain and grabbed his left upper chest or shoulder, according to witnesses.

Price was scheduled to have his media availability at 3 p.m. After he didn’t show, a combine official said that Price’s availability was expected to be rescheduled for Friday morning.

Price is considered a possible first-round pick in April’s NFL draft. He was a four-year starter for Ohio State. He played guard his first three seasons before moving to center in 2017 and won the Rimington Trophy as the best collegiate player at that position.
