Shelby McCombs pitched a complete game and hit a solo home run to help Ohio State beat Rutgers 6-2 in Piscataway, N.J.

McCombs (10-2) tossed her fifth complete game of the season, allowing two runs and seven hits. The right-hander struck out five and walked one.

Six players drove in a run for the Buckeyes (23-8, 4-4 Big Ten) — Taylor White, Bailee Sturgeon, Lilli Piper, Emily Clark, Ashley Goodwin and McCombs. Sturgeon tied her career high with three hits.

The Buckeyes broke the game open by scoring three runs in the sixth inning against Whitney Jones (8-9), who also threw a complete game for the Scarlet Knights (17-18, 2-4).
