Senior Mikael Torpegaard clinched both the doubles point and later the match on Sunday as Ohio State breezed past Northwestern 7-0 on Senior Day.

No. 3 Ohio State (24-2, 9-0 Big Ten) completed its regular-season home schedule with a 15-0 record at the Varsity Tennis Center.

Torpegaard and John McNally ran their record together this season to 8-0 with a 6-4 win over Jason Seidman and Nick Brookes of Northwestern (9-14, 4-5).

OSU's Martin Joyce and JJ Wolf beat Dominik Stary and Ben Vandixhorn 6-2.

In singles, Wolf earned his 15th win of the season by defeating Brookes 6-1, 6-2.

McNally followed with his 15th win, beating Vandixhorn 6-2, 6-1.

Torpegaard clinched the match with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Stary.

Tim Seibert, Kyle Seelig and Joyce also won in singles for Ohio State, which can wrap up its 13th consecutive Big Ten championship with victories at Indiana on Friday and at Purdue on Sunday.  


Women's tennis

Olivia Sneed, Danielle Wolf and Mary Beth Hurley each won singles and doubles matches as Ohio State defeated host Purdue 5-2.

Wolf and Maria Tyrina beat Alex Sabe and Seira Shimizu 6-0, and Sneed and Hurley won the doubles point for Ohio State (12-6, 6-3 Big Ten) with a 6-4 win over Ena Babic and Zala Dovnik of Purdue (12-9, 5-4).

Sneed defeated Sabe 6-7, 6-2, 6-3, Wolf rallied past Caitlin Calkins 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 and Hurley cruised past Dovnik 6-2, 6-1.

The Buckeyes' Shiori Fukuda beat Babic 6-3, 3-6, 7-6.



Host Northwestern scored in every inning and beat Ohio State 14-6 in a Big Ten game. A second game was rained out, giving Northwestern (25-13, 8-5) a sweep of the two-game series.

Ashley Goodwin homered and drove in three runs for Ohio State (26-10, 7-6).



Men's golf

Ohio State finished tied for 14th in the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Indiana, after Sunday's final round was cancelled because of rain.

The Buckeyes finished at 22-over-par 598 for 36 holes, tied with Western Kentucky. Kent State and Northwestern were co-champs at 3-over 579.

Will Voetsch was the top OSU finisher with a 2-over total of 146.


Women's golf

The final round of the Lady Buckeye Invitational at the OSU Scarlet Course was cancelled because of rain. Illinois won the tournament with a 36-hole total of 3-over 579.

Ohio State took seventh at 598, led by junior Jaclyn Lee, who tied for 13th at 4-over 148.
