Harry Shipley's three-run double in the sixth inning helped Purdue break open a tight game in an 8-2 victory over Ohio State in a Big Ten game at Bill Davis Stadium.

Tyler Cowles homered in the second inning and Noah West scored on a double-play grounder in the fifth as the Buckeyes (32-17, 12-8) closed to 3-2.

But the Boilermakers (30-17, 14-5) scored five times with two outs in the top of the sixth, needing just two hits. Two walks and a single loaded the bases off starter Ryan Feltner, who then hit Milo Beam with a pitch to score a run. Kyle Michalik came on in relief, walked in a run, then gave up Shipley's double to make it 8-2.

Feltner (4-4) took the loss, allowing seven runs (six earned) on five hits, with seven strikeouts and four walks over 5 2/3 innings. Purdue's Trent Johnson (3-1) got the win with 2/3 of an inning in relief of starter Gareth Stroh, who went four innings and gave up two runs on five hits, with three strikeouts and two walks.
