Defensive back Jordan Battle of Florida became the 13th member of the Ohio State football team’s 2019 recruiting class on Friday when he announced his commitment via social media, which included a shout-out to his mother.

“I am honored to announce I am committed to The Ohio State Buckeyes,” Battle wrote near the end of his message on Twitter. “God is amazing … Go Bucks … HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY.”

From Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, the 6-foot-1, 187-pound Battle picked the Buckeyes over Miami and Clemson, while holding offers from at least 25 schools overall.

The 247sports composite of the major recruiting services shows Battle to be a consensus four-star prospect. He was ranked the 12th best safety nationally in the 2019 cycle, and the 171th best prospect overall.
