Maryland went for two after scoring in overtime. Quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome rolled right but was wide right on a pass to Jeshaun Jones, who was open in the end zone. The decision overshadowed one on Ohio State’s preceding possession to go for it on fourth down, successfully.
Ohio State scored 52 points and won by one. The defense’s propensity to give up huge plays showed up again, with Maryland freshman Anthony McFarland gaining 298 yards rushing. But in the end Ohio State found a way, setting up the showdown with Michigan.
