Star of the game

There were plenty on offense, defense and special teams, but Dwayne Haskins Jr. gains the nod again, going 19-of-30 passing for 318 yards and five touchdowns, plus 34 yards rushing. He left with Big Ten season records for passing yards (4,003) and passing TDs (41).

Turning point

Chris Olave’s blocked punt at 4:41 of the third quarter, and he had a co-conspirator in fellow freshman Sevyn Banks. Olave sprinted up the middle to tap Will Hart’s punt, the ball shooting straight up. Banks sprinted in to pull it out of midair and return it 33 yards for a touchdown.

Repercussions

Considering the offensive onslaught came against the No. 4 team in the playoff rankings and against the defense ranked No. 1 overall and against the pass, it should move a mound of chips to the No. 10 Buckeyes’ side. But first: Northwestern, in the Big Ten championship game.
