Ohio State’s Sade Olatoye posted the sixth-best women’s weight throw in NCAA history and Julia Rizk won the 1-mile run to claim individual titles at the NCAA indoor track and field championships on Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama.
Olatoye, a senior from Dublin Coffman, won with a toss of 80 feet, 3 inches, easily beating second-place Makenli Forrest of Louisville (73-11½) as the OSU women’s team finished fourth with 28 points, behind winner Arkansas (62).
Rizk, a senior from Columbus Academy, finished in 4 minutes, 37.63 seconds, pulling away down the stretch to beat Karisa Nelson of Samford (4:38.24) and Millie Paladino of Providence (4:38.44). OSU sophomore Anavia Battle was fifth in women’s 200 meters (23.07).
Senior Nick Gray of Pickerington North finished fourth in the 200 (20.76) as the men’s team tied for 41st with five points, behind winner Florida (55).
