The Buckeyes totaled 13 hits, 11 through the fourth inning, with each batter registering at least one hit by the fifth inning.

Thomas Waning (1-0) pitched four shutout innings before four relievers combined to allow one hit over the next three innings.

Left fielder Brady Cherry, who homered in the second, took the mound and allowed five runs in the top of the eighth inning.

Andrew Mango earned his sixth save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
