Dillon Dingler singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and Ohio State beat Michigan 2-1 on Wednesday in the first round of the Big Ten baseball tournament in Omaha, Nebraska.

Three pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter for the Buckeyes (32-24), who will play Maryland at 6 p.m. Thursday. The Terrapins beat Illinois 6-2.

Michigan (38-17) took a 1-0 lead into the eighth inning, but Zach Dezenzo scored on Matt Carpenter's grounder to tie it. Dezenzo led off with a double off Karl Kauffmann (8-6) and Ridge Winand was hit by a pitch. The runners moved up a base on Nick Erwin's sacrifice bunt and Dominic Canzone was intentionally walked. Dezenzo then scored on Carpenter's groundout to second base and Dingler singled to right field to give the Buckeyes the lead.

Andrew Magno pitched two scoreless innings for his 11th save.

Seth Lonsway struck out six in 5 1/3 innings for Ohio State, and Will Pfenning (2-3) got the victory after retiring five batters.
