Ohio State 56, Miami University 10
Sept. 1, 2012
The Buckeyes had nothing to lose, so amazingly, they won them all. A one-year postseason ban for infractions under previous coach Jim Tressel meant Ohio State could not contend for the national championship or even play in a bowl game. But with Urban Meyer installed as coach, the Buckeyes showed immediately the type of team they would be under him. Devin Smith made a jaw-dropping, one-handed catch off a 23-yard pass from Braxton Miller for a touchdown early in the second quarter, and the Buckeyes were on their way. They built a 21-3 halftime lead, kept piling on the points in the second half and kept piling up the wins all season. The RedHawks' one-dimensional offense (313 yards passing, minus-1 rushing) kept the Buckeyes busy but produced far too few points.
