Ohio State handled Cincinnati in a 42-0 rout on Saturday.

The national polls did not reward the Buckeyes for shutting out the Bearcats for the first time since 2005.

In fact, LSU jumped Ohio State in The Associated Press and coaches’ polls released Sunday.

After being ranked fifth since the preseason, the Buckeyes dropped to No. 6 in both polls.

The Tigers ended Week 2 with a high-profile win at Texas, defeating the Longhorns, 45-38, in a primetime matchup of top-10 teams that drew ESPN’s popular “College GameDay” program to Austin in anticipation. Texas fell outside the top-10 after the loss.

LSU rose as high as No. 4 in The AP poll, moving ahead of Oklahoma, which also began 2-0 like the Buckeyes. The Tigers sat at No. 5 in the coaches’ poll, surpassing only Ohio State.

Cincinnati was no longer receiving votes after the loss.
