Ohio State men’s hockey player CJ Regula is expected to make a full recovery after sustaining a neck injury in the Buckeyes’ game Friday night at Wisconsin, according to a statement on Twitter by the team.
Regula, a freshman defenseman from Bloomfield Hills, Mich., was taken from the ice on a stretcher after he was checked from behind and hit the boards as he retrieved the puck in the Ohio State zone. The Wisconsin player who checked him, Linus Weissbach, was called for a penalty and game misconduct. The Big Ten has suspended Weissbach for a game.

According to Todd Milewski, who covers the Badgers for the Wisconsin State Journal, Regula underwent tests at a Madison hospital and was able to move his hands and feet Friday night. He was released from the hospital Friday night.
No. 8 Ohio State won the game 4-2 and plays the Badgers again Saturday night.
