Four-star running back Evan Pryor committed Monday night to join Ohio State’s 2021 recruiting class.
The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder from suburban Charlotte, North Carolina, is ranked 84th nationally among all prospects in the 247Sports composite rankings. Pryor is the fifth-rated running back.
He becomes the 13th member of the Buckeyes’ 2021 class, which was already ranked first nationally. Pryor is the second commitment of the day. Three-star cornerback Devonta Smith from Cincinnati La Salle pledged Monday morning to join the Buckeyes.
"What makes him so attractive is he’s a complete back," Bucknuts recruiting analyst Bill Kurelic said. "He is a combination running back/all-purpose back. With them not landing an all-purpose back last year, he’s a great fit.
"He’s a very good running back out of the backfield and is an outstanding receiver and can line up in the slot."
Last season, Pryor ran for 1,130 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 6.9 yards per carry, according to Maxpreps.com. He also had 646 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
The Buckeyes want to add another at his position.
"They’re in need of running backs period, 2020 and beyond," Kurelic said. "They need quality and depth. They really need to sign two 2021 running backs and if they can get a transfer like (Oklahoma’s) Trey Sermon who can play this upcoming, that’s what they really want to do."
North Carolina and Georgia were his other finalists.
