Kierstan Bell said Wednesday that she is entering the NCAA transfer portal and intends to leave the Ohio State women’s basketball program after one season.
“I want to thank the coaching staff, professors, university and most importantly my teammates for being supportive and riding with me throughout this year.” Bell posted in a statement on Twitter.
Bell, a 6-foot-1 guard, was a three-time winner of the Ms. Basketball award as the top girls high school basketball player in Ohio.
Last season, she was the Buckeyes' second-leading scorer at 10.9 points per game and averaged 4.4 rebounds. She shot 39.4% from the field (31.8 from three-point range) and 66.7% at the foul line. She totaled 60 turnovers and 49 assists.
Bell went home to Canton in late February for what Ohio State said was personal reasons and missed a loss at Rutgers and a home loss to Northwestern. She returned for the final five games of the season, including four in the Big Ten tournament.
