Ohio State has named Heisman Trophy finalist Chase Young and All-American hockey player Jincy Dunne as its men’s and women’s athletes of the year.

Young and Dunne will be on the ballot for the Big Ten athlete of the year, which will be announced on Thursday.

Young was college football’s most dominant defensive player in 2019, winning the Bednarik Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy. The defensive end led the country with 16½ sacks. The junior entered the NFL draft and was the second overall pick by the Washington Redskins, his hometown team.

Dunne helped the Buckeyes win the Women’s Collegiate Hockey Association tournament championship. The defenseman assisted on the overtime game-winner by Tatum Skaggs.

Last week, Dunne became the first OSU women’s hockey player to be a Big Ten Medal of Honor winner.

The native of O’Fallon, Missouri, ended her career as a three-time All-American. She was a WCHA and OSU Scholar-Athlete who earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology last May and is pursuing her master’s in sports coaching.
