Ohio State-TCU | J.K. Dobbins shines in return to Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas — J.K. Dobbins rushed for 121 yards for Ohio State in a 40-28 victory Saturday night over TCU, but the sophomore insisted his thoughts were about the team’s accomplishment, not his.
“I’m all about winning, so whatever a team needs to win the game, that’s what happens,” Dobbins said after his 18-carry effort. “I’m a team player.
“I think each and every one of us is a team player,” he added, looking down the row in the postgame interview room to fellow running back Mike Weber and hybrid back Parris Campbell, “so whenever it’s not our turn, we don’t have a problem with it, because we like to see our teammates thrive.”

The La Grange, Texas, native did perk up when asked what it meant to him to top 100 yards on his second trip to the state since becoming a Buckeye. The first trip came in Ohio State’s Cotton Bowl win over Southern California nine months ago, also at AT&T Stadium. He only had 39 yards on 13 carries in that game, though he did finish the season with 1,406 yards, a record for an Ohio State freshman.
“It’s a blessing, you know?” Dobbins said of Saturday night’s performance. “Playing here (in Texas) all my life and coming back home and having a great game, it’s a blessing.”
He and Weber combined for 36 carries and 185 of the Buckeyes’ net 182 yards rushing, part of the 526 yards of total offense.
