To beat a great defense, a team has to be willing and able to pass. That describes Dwayne Haskins Jr. and the Buckeyes. No one expects a totally remade Ohio State defense in just a week, but a few stops will be huge in deciding the 115th renewal of The Game.

Do the Buckeyes have the talent to beat Michigan? Absolutely. Have they shown the consistency to have faith that they will? No. Ohio State has benefited from poor quarterback play by Michigan in recent matchups. Shea Patterson is competent, which means counterpart Dwayne Haskins Jr. probably will have to be brilliant.

The Wolverines don’t register 20-20 on the eyeball test, but they still look better than the out of focus Buckeyes. Harbaugh finally prevails.

The matchups actually could favor the Buckeyes, with Michigan’s power run game against the OSU defense and the fact that this is by far the best offense and quarterback the Wolverines have seen this year. I’m picking with my heart over my head.

The Buckeyes’ defense must forget about last week and show up for this one. Dwayne Haskins Jr. and the Ohio State offense will be the difference. His arm and his veteran receiving corps can beat the Wolverines.
