Ohio State 43, Youngstown State 0

Sometimes an opener is a glance into the future, and two things stood out about the Youngstown State game that were prophetic. First was the defense allowing no points, a fantastic start for a season in which they allowed an average of 13.9 points over 13 games. And for the offense, it was the sight of running back Chris "Beanie" Wells leaving the game in the third quarter because of a foot injury. He missed three games, including a 35-3 loss to No. 1 Southern California that sent the Buckeyes tumbling from No. 5 to No. 13 in the Top 25. Injuries dogged the talented Akron native throughout his college career and four seasons in the NFL.
