Ohio State’s defensive line depth will remain limited when the Buckeyes face Miami University in their final nonconference game Saturday afternoon.

Defensive end Jonathon Cooper will miss his fourth consecutive game to begin this season, while defensive end Tyreke Smith and defensive tackle Robert Landers will also be out with undisclosed ailments.

The team released its status report Friday, where all three of the defensive linemen were listed as “unavailable.”

Smith made his first career start last week at Indiana, but did not play in the second half against the Hoosiers because of a setback. It was unrelated to the groin surgery the sophomore underwent in the summer, a recovery that prompted him to miss the season opener.

Either sophomore Tyler Friday or freshman Zach Harrison will start in place of Smith at the defensive end spot opposite Chase Young, according to the team’s depth chart.

Landers started in the season opener against Florida Atlantic, but had been a reserve in previous games behind Jashon Cornell.

Defensive tackle Taron Vincent, who still had his arm in a sling when he left practice Wednesday, also remains out. That means the Buckeyes are without four defensive linemen.

Despite notable absences on the defensive line, the Buckeyes have been effective along the line of scrimmage and in the backfield. They have 15 sacks, the second most in the nation, and 31 tackles for loss, fourth most. Their rush defense also ranks fourth.

Among others on the report for Week 4, sophomore cornerback Cameron Brown was listed as a game-time decision, and receiver C.J. Saunders remained out.

Junior Jahsen Wint is slated to return after he was out last week at Indiana, serving as the backup at the “bullet” position behind Brendon White, the hybrid linebacker-safety role.
