Ohio State moved up one spot to No. 4 in the Associated Press poll following its convincing 48-7 victory at Nebraska on Saturday night.
The Buckeyes, who improved to 5-0 overall, overtook LSU, which sat idle over the weekend.
The top-25 poll was released Sunday afternoon, and debuted a new team atop the rankings, with Alabama surpassing Clemson, the preseason No. 1 team. The Tigers remained unbeaten, but prevailed narrowly at North Carolina in a 21-20 victory, slipping to No. 2. Georgia was ranked No. 3.
Seven of the 62 voters ranked Ohio State at No. 7 on their ballots. Last week, it had no first-place votes.
In the coaches’ poll, Ohio State also moved up to No. 5, while receiving four first-place votes.
