Star of the game

Defensive end Chase Young had one of the best performances of his college career against a premier Big Ten offensive line, sacking Wisconsin quarterback Jack Coan four times to tie an Ohio State record and adding five tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.

Stat that mattered

52: Yards by Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor, who entered as the nation’s third-leading rusher. It was the third-worst performance of his career and was reminiscent of the time Ohio State limited him to 41 rushing yards in the 2017 Big Ten championship game, his fewest ever.

Big picture

In their final game before the first College Football Playoff rankings are to be released on Nov. 5, the Buckeyes got a signature victory, defeating their highest-ranked opponent of the season in another rout. It was a convincing case for the top spot in the initial rankings.
