Star of the game
Nose tackle DaVon Hamilton picked up some of the slack in the absence of star pass rusher Chase Young, who was suspended amid a school investigation into a possible NCAA violation over a loan from a family friend. Hamilton had two sacks in the first half.
Stat that mattered
6: Ohio State scored a touchdown on each of its first six drives, including two that lasted less than two minutes, an onslaught of points that allowed the Buckeyes to build a 42-0 lead by halftime and put themselves out of reach.
Big picture
There was no drama on the field, even with Young’s absence, and there was no rust despite a second off-week in a month. The Buckeyes routed another overmatched opponent, making a case to hold onto the top spot in the College Football Playoff rankings.
