The weather is likely to be a factor in slowing down both teams, but Ohio State's superior run game and defense should be enough against the improved Wolverines.

If the honeymoon phase of Ryan Day's coaching tenure is to last beyond Thanksgiving weekend, it involves beating the Buckeyes' archrival. The chances are helped by a better roster of talent compared with Michigan, one that has shown no obvious weakness.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The Wolverines are the most talented team the Buckeyes have played, except at head coach. At some point, Jim Harbaugh is going to botch things just enough so that Michigan cannot recover. Besides that, OSU's defense is too stout for Michigan to do lethal damage.

Shea Patterson, undefeated at Michigan Stadium, has to protect the ball and be pinpoint in every decision he makes. Neutralizing Chase Young will obviously be critical, but Michigan hasn't faced a player like him. The weather could be an issue with rain and sleet in the forecast.

I realize this could set me up for a fine faceplant, and yes, I have usually picked Ohio State the past decade (accurately, it turns out). But it seems like both are playing their best right now, and the law of averages has to turn the tide one of these days. Ghosts of 1969? We'll see.
