Ohio State added the eighth player to its 2021 recruiting class when Cincinnati LaSalle safety Jaylen Johnson committed to the Buckeyes on Tuesday.
Johnson is a three-star prospect, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He is ranked as the country’s 421st-best player and the No. 18 safety.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Johnson becomes the fifth Ohio player in the Buckeyes’ 2021 class. He had offers from several other Big Ten schools, including Penn State.
Johnson is the latest in the LaSalle pipeline to Ohio State. Punter Drue Chrisman attended the school, as did kicker Jake Seibert, who is part of OSU’s 2020 recruiting class.
