Ohio State adds defensive lineman Michael Hall Jr. to 2021 football recruiting class

Ohio State continued its fast start on the recruiting trail for 2021 on Saturday afternoon when Michael Hall Jr., a four-star defensive lineman from Streetsboro, announced his commitment to the program.
The addition gives the Buckeyes 10 commitments for next year’s class and strengthened their hold on the top spot in the nation in 247Sports’ composite rankings, ahead of Clemson, which has nine commitments.
In a tweet revealing his decision, Hall wrote, “I never thought this day would come but on behalf of me and my family I am committed to The Ohio State University...Go Bucks.”

Hall held other scholarship offers from Big Ten schools such as Michigan State, Minnesota and Penn State, plus Cincinnati.
As the Buckeyes build their 2021 recruiting class, they have pursued a mass of in-state prospects. Hall was the sixth commitment from Ohio, only two shy of the total for their 2020 class that features eight.
Three of the six Ohio-based commits are considered top-100 prospects, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Hall is ranked as the No. 232 overall prospect in the nation in the class of 2021, while the 19th-best defensive tackle. He is listed at 6 feet 3 and 290 pounds.
Much of Ohio State’s recent recruiting efforts have centered on the 2021 class, ever since signing 24 recruits for 2020 during the early signing period in December.
With the second signing period for 2020 to begin Wednesday, the Buckeyes’ class is largely complete. Only one commit remained unsigned.
