This year marks the first time The Game is to be held in December, a later date that is the result of a Big Ten season postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Prior to the health crisis, the Buckeyes had been scheduled to host the Wolverines on Thanksgiving weekend.

But a midday kickoff at least keeps some of the rivalry’s traditions intact.

The last time Ohio State and Michigan played a game that began later than noon was in 2006 when ABC moved the starting time to 3:30 p.m. for the contest known as the “Game of the Century.” They met as the No. 1 and No. 2-ranked teams in the national polls.

The Buckeyes’ season opener against Nebraska on Oct. 24 is also scheduled to kick off at noon on FOX. The remaining game times and TV pairings for the 2020 season have yet to be announced.
