Omar Payne’s official visit to Ohio State has been changed.

A four-star prospect from Montverde (Florida) Academy, the 6-foot-9, 215-pound Payne will now be visiting the Buckeyes during the weekend of October 5. The change is the result of a school function for Payne and has nothing to do with the level of interest on either side, The Dispatch has learned.

Listed as a center prospect by 247Sports.com, Payne is the No. 38 recruit in the nation, the No. 10 center and the No. 8 player from Florida in the composite rankings.

He had been scheduled to take his official visit to Ohio State this weekend. The Buckeyes have a two-man class with five-star point guard DJ Carton from Bettendorf, Iowa, and four-star small forward Alonzo Gaffney from Garfield Heights, Ohio, who will play at Wolfeboro (New Hampshire) Brewster Academy for his senior season.

Payne is also scheduled to take official visits to LSU on October 13 and Louisville on October 19.

Ohio State could still take one more person in its class of 2019 but might also hold tight with two signees through the early signing period. Most recently, the Buckeyes hosted four-star power forward EJ Liddell on an official visit at the beginning of the month.
